I am doing research on the use of the Japanese familial "aniki" (??) 
within non-familial contexts. I am particularly interested in the 
sociolinguistic and pragmatic implications of its use - the contexts in 
which it has been used, the perceptions of its use (by those who use it 
or those who hear it), mass media deployments of it, and so forth. I'm 
conducting this research for a dissertation chapter, the focus of which 
is translation and intercultural perception.

Finding literature on the subject in English has not been that difficult, 
but I have hit a brick wall in terms of finding Japanese language 
scholarly material. I've tried searching the CiNii, OPAC, WebCat, and 
other databases but these are general and of little use.

I hope someone can suggest a citation or two so that I can at least get 
a foothold in the lit; barring that, are there other databases that might 
be more useful in this endeavor?
