Dear Subscribers,
This morning Geoff Nathan challenged all linguists who serve
in administrative or IT support roles to top the amount raised
by Sociolinguistics in the subfield challenge. Geoff generously
offered to donate $400 if IT/Admin donors could equal or surpass
the Sociolinguists' $2660.
We often hear from linguists who have become administrators,
IT professionals, or linguists in industry, and who no longer
have the time to keep up with all the linguistic activity in
academia worldwide. They tell us that Linguist List is a boon
to them, since they can find all the info they need about
conferences, books, jobs, dissertations, and journals right on
one site. They can browse LL to keep up with the field; and
that saves them a lot of time.
If you are one of these professionals, won't you answer Geoff's
challenge?
So far only 4 people have contributed to the IT/Admin challenge.
And the total raised so far is only $186.
Linguists in administration and IT: you can do better! If
LINGUIST List saves you time and helps you do your job, won't
you please do your part to keep it free.
Give up a donut at coffee break and donate what you saved at:

Our heartfelt thanks to the 874 donors who have already contributed.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return
(U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact
your financial advisor.
Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple
administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company
operates such a program.
Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
