Meeting Description: 

Le colloque sera consacré à l'étude des verba sonandi, classe sémantique 
particulière des représentations linguistiques des sons (interjections, 
substantifs, prédicats, etc.). Après le premier colloque (novembre 2010) 
consacré à l'étude des verbes qui désignent les cris et bruits émis par les 
animaux, ce second volet vise à élargir le champ d'investigation sur ces 
verba sonandi. Ce colloque aura, d'une part, pour objectif de compléter la 
typologie linguistique déjà amorcée, et de l'autre, de poursuivre l'exploration 
des trois aspects suivants : linguistique, culturel et cognitif.

Ce colloque abordera les questions suivantes : 
- typologie linguistique : en vue de la constitution d'un corpus 
multilinguistique des verba sonandi associés aux animaux, les 
communications porteront, d'une part, sur les familles de langues indo 
européennes (romanes, germaniques, slaves, indo-iraniennes), ouralienne, 
sino-tibétaine, astro-asiatique, etc. ce qui permettra de faire ressortir les 
particularités de chaque famille linguistique en question. D'un autre côté, 
seront encouragées les communications qui porteront sur les langues 
(familles de langue) qui n'ont pas été présentées lors du premier colloque 
(langues de l'Afrique, de l'Inde, du Caucase, langues sémitiques, arménien, 
grec, langues créoles, langues polynésiennes) ;
- linguistique : les communications pourront avoir pour objet l'étude les 
verba sonandi associés aux bruits des objets et des éléments naturels. Le 
traitement de ce sous-groupe sera-t-il différent de celui des verba sonandi 
associés aux animaux ?
- culturelle : comment les bruits et sons produits par les humains, animaux, 
objets et éléments naturels sont-ils perçus dans les différentes cultures ? 
Seront attendues des communications éclairant des aspects 
ethnographique, anthropologique, socioculturel et littéraire.
- cognitive : quels sont les mécanismes cognitifs qui entrent en jeu lors de la 
(re)production et de la perception des bruits et des sons ? Quel est leur 
impact sur notre perception du monde ?
Ce colloque aura pour objectif de réunir des spécialistes des différents 
domaines des sciences humaines susceptibles de faire avancer nos 
connaissances sur le phénomène des verba sonandi. 

Les propositions de communication sont à envoyer à Jean-Marie MERLE 
(jmmerle1 at aliceadsl.fr) et à Irina KOR CHAHINE (irina.kor-chahine at univ-
provence.fr) d'ici au 15 mai 2011. A ce stade, un titre sera suffisant. 

Une présentation d'une demi-page à une page sera attendue pour le 15 
juin 2011. 

L'avis du comité scientifique sera transmis à chacun le 1 juillet 2011.
