Dissertation Abstract:
The present study aimed to investigate the effect of CA-based error
correction on the improvement of the EFL intermediate learners' writing.
Forty intermediate students, all males, studying in an English Language
Institute in Golpayegan participated in this study. The participants were
supposed to write six narrative essays within six weeks. The first essay
was considered the pre-test and the sixth essay was considered the
post-test. The participants were provided with the feedback of their
writings each week. The errors which arose because of the influence of L1
on L2 were considered CA-based errors. The Wilcoxon Test was then used to
investigate the effect and the improvement of learners' grammatical and
lexical errors by CA based error correction. The results of the study
concerning the two hypotheses showed that CA based error correction was
effective in the improvement of the participants' lexical errors, but it
was not effective in the improvement of the participant' grammatical errors.
