Description:
We are searching for a Brazilian Portuguese Linguist to document Brazilian
Portuguese syntax rules that will be implemented by our client into their syntax
parsing system, The contract is for up to 100 hours over a 4-5 week period
starting early January 2011. The Linguist will provide documentation and
consulting on syntax and other language-specific issues.
Responsibilities
- Producing theory-neutral documentation to describe constituent structure of
the target language (e.g. VP, NP structure)
- Working with the client's developers to ensure the rules can easily be
implemented in the NLP system
- Consulting with the client's developers during the development process
Qualifications
- Must be native or near native speaker of Brazilian Portuguese and have
excellent written communication skills in English
- Academic or professional background in linguistics, especially in syntax and
grammar engineering
- Ability to quickly understand new linguistic technologies and client/project
needs
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail
- MA degree or higher in Linguistics or related field from an accredited university
preferred, or equivalent work experience
