In order to narrow down this vast field of research and to stimulate methodological and theoretical discussions, papers should be submitted for one of three thematic sessions: (i) the role played by images in the description of idiomaticity, (ii) links between traditional and new constructional approaches to syntactic frozenness and (iii) specialized phraseology/phraseology in specialized discourses.

(i) Since the first studies in phraseology, figurative language use has been identified as an important definition criterion for phrasems/fixed phrases: for  this reason a first section is dedicated to the methodological and theoretical backgrounds of this notion and to associated notions such as idomaticity and metaphorization. Papers discussing this question from the point of view of image and iconicity are especially welcome, as are papers focusing on the role of new cognitive approaches to figurative language use and their contribution to theory in phraseology research. 
(ii) Constructional grammars - whose latest developments cannot be longer ignored - offer many possible links with phraseology research (cf. for example the paper on Let Alone by Fillmore et al.): thus, the second section of the conference aims to combine the two approaches: phraseological phenomena from a constructional point of view - and vice versa. Proposals dealing with languages such as French or German, which have less frequently been the object of constructional studies, are particularly welcome.
(iii) Following the workshop on specialized collocations organized by Laurent Gautier and Salah Mejri at the 2008 Europhras Conference in Helsinki (proceedings in print), the third section will be dedicated to specialized phraseology and to syntactic frozenness (in a broad sense) in specialized discourse: this will include not only collocations, but also the terminology-phraseology interface, the text / discourse dimension of phraseology as well the role of images and metaphors in specialized phraseology.
(iv) A separate Call for Papers will be published for a fourth section on contrastive German-French phraseology research.

Priority will be given to theoretical and methodological proposals. Although case studies are not excluded, they should clearly indicate the methodological framework they follow and their role in theory building.

Submission Procedure:

Proposals (in English, French or German) will consist of a title, five keywords, a bibliography of max. ten references and an abstract of 500 words (problems, methodological framework, corpus and the most important (expected) results). Authors are requested to stipulate explicitly for which section their proposal should be considered. Proposals should be send by 2011 February 15th at: figement2011 at gmail.com and will be double-blind peer-reviewed.

Afin de circonscrire ce vaste champ et de favoriser la discussion méthodologique et théorique, trois sections thématiques sont prévues: (i) la place et le rôle de l'image dans la description du figement idiomatique, (ii) les liens entre analyse du figement et nouvelles approches de la langue initiées par les grammaires de construction et (iii) la phraséologie spécialisée / en discours spécialisés.

(i) Le critère de figuration ayant été reconnu, dès les premiers travaux sur le sujet, comme l'un des critères définitoires du phrasème, on reviendra dans cette section sur les fondements théoriques et méthodologiques de cette figuration et des phénomènes proches comme l'idiomaticité ou la métaphorisation. Une attention particulière sera accordée aux propositions abordant, sous cet angle, la question de l'image et de l'iconicité. On pourra également s'interroger sur les apports, pour la théorie phraséologique, des acquis de la recherché d'inspiration cognitive.
(ii) Les grammaires de construction, dont l'essor récent ne peut plus être ignoré, présentant nombre de points d'ancrage phraséologiques (on pense par exemple à un article fondateur comme celui de Fillmore et al. sur Let alone), cette section accueillera des études visant à croiser les regards
'constructionnistes' sur les faits de figement et vice-versa. Des propositions concernant le français et l'allemand, où l'impact de ces nouvelles approches est sans doute moins étudié que pour l'anglais, seront particulièrement bienvenues.
(iii) A la suite de l'atelier organisé par Salah Mejri et Laurent Gautier dans le cadre du colloque Europhras 2008 d'Helsinki (publication des Actes en cours), la troisième section sera consacrée à la phraésologie spécialisée et aux phénomènes de figement, au sens large, dans les discours spécialisés. Par delà la question des collocations, on s'intéressera ici, entre autres, à l'interface entre terminologie et phraséologie, à la dimension textuelle/discursive du figement ainsi qu'au rôle des images et métaphores dans la phraséologie spécialisée.
(iv) Une quatrième section, faisant l'objet d'un appel séparé, sera consacrée à la phraséologie contrastive français - allemand.

De façon générale, priorité sera donnée aux propositions d'inspiration théorique et méthodologique. Si les études de cas ne sont exclues a priori, elles devront s'inscrire dans un cadre méthodologique précis et envisager leur apport à la réflexion théorique.

Soumission des propositions:

Les propositions (en allemand, anglais ou français) comprendront un titre, cinq mots clefs, une bibliographie de dix titres maximum et développeront en 500 mots environ la problématique, le cadre méthodologique, le corpus analysé ainsi que les principaux résultats escomptés. Les auteurs indiqueront de manière explicite de quelle section relève la proposition. Elles seront soumises avant le 15 février 2011 à l'adresse figement2011 at gmail.com et feront l'objet d'une double expertise aveugle.

Um die theoretische und methodologische Diskussion zu fördern, soll dieses sehr weite Feld eingegrenzt werden und es sind drei allgemeine Sektionen vorgesehen: (i) Stellenwert und Rolle des Bild-Begriffs in der Analyse idiomatischer Fixiertheit, (ii) Analyse der Schnittstelle zwischen Phraseologie und Konstruktionen im Sinne der Konstruktionsgrammatiken und (iii) Fachphraseologie bzw. Fixiertheit im Fachdiskurs.

(i) Da die Figuriertheit seit den ersten Forschungsarbeiten als grundlegendes Definitionsmerkmal von Phrasemen erkannt wurde, ist eine erste Sektion der theoretischen und methodologischen Fundierung dieses Begriffs, aber auch anderer Begriffe wie Idiomatizität oder Metaphorisierung gewidmet. Besonders willkommen sind Vorschläge, welche diese Problematik aus der Perspektive der Bildlichkeit bzw. der Ikonizität behandeln oder welche der Frage nachgehen, wie kognitiv angelegte Forschungsarbeiten ein neues Licht auf diese Thematik werfen können. 
(ii) Konstruktionsgrammatiken, deren neueste Entwicklung einfach nicht mehr übersehen werden kann, bieten einen neuen, erneuerten Zugang zur sprachlichen Fixiertheit (man denke z.B. an den immer wieder zitierten Aufsatz von Fillmore et al. zu Let alone) an. Die zweite Sektion soll Forscher zusammenbringen, die sich darum bemühen, konstruktionistische mit phraseologischen Ansätzen zu kombinieren - und umgekehrt. Erwünscht sind insbesondere Vorschläge zum Deutschen und Französischen, wo diese Ansätze wohl nicht so üblich sind wie furs Englische.
(iii) Im Anschluss an den von Laurent Gautier und Salah Mejri auf der Europhras-Tagung 2008 in Helsinki organisierten Workshop (die Akten warden demnächst veröffentlicht) ist die dritte Sektion der Fachphrasologie bzw. Der Fixiertheit in Fachdiskursen gewidmet. Über die schon in Helsinki behandelte Frage der Kollokationen hinaus kann man sich in diesem Rahmen für Phänomene interessieren wie die Schnittstelle zwischen Terminologie und Phraseologie, die textuelle Dimension der Fixiertheit oder auch für den Stellenwert von Bildern und Metaphern in Fachtexten.
(iv) Eine vierte Sektion zur kontrastiven Phraseologie Deutsch-Französisch ist Gegenstand eines separaten Calls.

Der Vorrang wird theoretisch bzw. methodologisch angelegten Arbeiten gegeben. Fallstudien (z.B. zu diesem oder jenem Phrasemtyp) sind natürlich nicht ausgeschlossen, sie sollten aber einen klar umrissenen methodologischen Rahmen haben und ihren Beitrag zur phraseologischen Theoriebildung ins Auge fassen.

Einreichen von Vortragsvorschlägen:

Vorschläge (auf deutsch, englisch oder französisch) geben den Titel, fünf Schlüsselbegriffe sowie eine Bibliographie von max. zehn Referenzen an. Das Abstract definiert die Problematik, den methodologischen Rahmen, das Analysekorpus und fasst die wichtigsten Ergebnisse zusammen. Sie werden bis zum 15.
