Full Title: Journal of Modern Languages
Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics; General Linguistics
Call Deadline: 30-Apr-2011
The Journal of Modern Languages (JML) is a peer-reviewed journal published
by the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics at the University of Malaya.
Founded in 1985 at the University of Malaya, the JML is dedicated to the
publication of significant research findings of an empirical, experimental or
conceptual nature in the broad field of modern language studies.
The Journal produces one regular issue plus a special issue annually. Special
issues address linguistic themes relevant to South East Asia and the Pacific
Rim, especially the languages of the region. The language of publication is
normally English, but we may accept contributions in Malay for special
issues.
The JML welcomes papers addressing critical analyses of modern languages
from various fields of discipline including:
* General linguistics
* Pedagogy
* Descriptive linguistics
* Applied linguistics
* Language maintenance and death
* Sociolinguistics
* Translation and interpretation
* Discourse and conversational analyses
Research Notes
We are pleased to introduce a new section in our Journal called 'Research
Notes'. We welcome submission of smaller scaled research papers in
progress that provide substantive and critical directions in their research.
Examples include innovative research methodologies, projections of
prospective findings and ways to test critical assumptions of literature.
Research Notes will be peer reviewed.
The first authors of selected papers will be given free off-prints and a PDF
file.
The deadline for our next issue (2011) is April 30, 2011.
