Meeting Description:

We are pleased to announce the call for papers for the 5th Northern Englishes Workshop. The conference will take place at Nottingham Trent University between the 2nd and 4th April 2012. These are confirmed dates, so you can mark them in your diaries.

The Keynote Speakers at NEW5 will be:

Professor Joan Beal (The University of Sheffield)
Mr Jonnie Robinson (The British Library)

The workshop will hold a special workshop on historical methodology, and we are delighted to announce that Deborah Skinner (Nottingham Trent University) will present a special session on Oral History and Film Archives. 

Call for Papers:

This workshop encourages papers from academics and post-graduates examining language variation in the 'Linguistic North' of the UK.

Please submit an abstract of no more than 500 words by Easy Abs to: http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/new2012

You can submit a paper on historical methodology, but papers are not limited to this topic and can cover other linguistic fields focused on a variety of Northern English.
