The VAKKI symposium is an occasion for researchers in translation theory, LSP and multilingualism and related fields to meet in an international and multilingual environment.
The keynote speakers are:
Ph.D. Sebnem Susam-Sarajeva, University of Edinburgh
Katharina Brizi?, Austrian Academy of Sciences
In addition, The Humanist of the Year will be announced at the 2012 symposium, and this person will give the first VAKKI lecture.
VAKKI is now also on Facebook!
Call for Papers:
We welcome papers and posters relating to translation theory, LSP and multilingualism (a 20-minute paper followed by 5 minutes of discussion).
The theme of the 2012 symposium is 'Languages in Motion', but other papers in VAKKI's research field are also welcome. The theme can be approached in many ways and we hope for varied papers, where language (languages) and mobility are investigated from different perspectives. The proceedings will be edited in consultation with a special editorial peer review board (double blind). The symposium publication will be available in printed form and as open access. The working languages of the symposium are Finnish, Swedish, English and German.
Registrations and abstracts of up to 300 words can be submitted via e-form on our website in the autumn of 2011. More detailed information about these and other practical matters will be provided in the second call for papers, which is sent out in August. Information about previous symposia and VAKKI can be found on the website of the association: http://vakki.net/.
Important Dates:
Submission deadline for abstracts: November 30, 2011
Notification of acceptance: by December 31, 2011
