Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,

I began at The LINGUIST List in September 2010 after being accepted
into the graduate program in linguistics at Eastern Michigan University.
Since then, LINGUIST has provided me with the opportunity to develop
myself as a linguist while at the same time contributing to an essential
service for linguists across the world. Please help us keep this service
free for all users by donating:

https://linguistlist.org/donation/donate/donate1.cfm

One of the projects that I have been involved in since I began is LL-MAP,
a project that provides users with geographical maps upon which a variety
of linguistic information can be combined with data from other physical
and social sciences. In addition, LL-MAP also allows scholars to utilize
our resources through the Scholar's Workbench and take the results of their
research to create maps of their own. Although I did not begin at LL with
much knowledge about computers, working on this project has provided me
with a great means of learning more about the creative uses of technology
in the distribution of scholarship throughout the field.

In addition to LL-MAP, I am responsible for the approvals of new members
to our Directory of Linguists, a service that allows linguists to share
information on their education, linguistic specialty, and scholarship
with others throughout the field. On this task, I work towards adding
new members to the directory, as well as maintaining and updating the
information of over 25,000 linguists world-wide.

However, these opportunities and accomplishments are largely dependent
upon your support. Through your donations and submissions to the LINGUIST
List, we are able to offer a resource for linguists world-wide.

Please continue your support by donating at:

Thank you,

Alison Zaharee

This Year the LINGUIST List hopes to raise $67,000. This money will go to help

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return
(U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact
your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple
administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company
operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
