Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,

My name is Joshua Thompson and I am one of the programmers at The
LINGUIST List. This, like every year, has a been a busy year for me
at LINGUIST, and I glad to have the opportunity to constantly develop
my abilities through new projects and challenges. For example, I have
worked hard this year updating LLMAP to improve both its appearance
and overall functionality. One of the new features developed is the
Scholar's Workbench, which allows our users to easily create their own
digital maps through our interface. The LL-MAP project in particular
has been a wonderful learning experience, without which I probably would
not have had the opportunity to be exposed to GIS technologies such as
ESRI. It has also helped me sharpen my "Web 2.0" skills, including the
wonderful ExtJS toolkit.

I also work on the main LINGUIST website, and have big ideas for it
in the future. To make these a reality, we need your help. Thanks to
your continued support, I have had the most enjoyable and most educational
work experiences of my life, and I hope you will assist us in continuing
it.

Please donate today:

Thanks,

Joshua Thompson

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return
(U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact
your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple
administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company
operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
