The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (Nijmegen, The Netherlands)
is inviting applications for a

(Senior) Researcher position

in the Department Individual Differences in Language Processing (A. Meyer).

The MPI in Nijmegen is a leading research institute, with a stimulating
environment and excellent facilities and resources. It is the only
institute devoted to the question of how we acquire, produce and understand
language, and its investigations are highly multidisciplinary, uniting
anthropology, linguistics, psychology, neuroscience, computer science, and

The position is available to new PhDs as well as senior researchers.
Candidates should have, or shortly expect to obtain, a PhD in psychology,
cognitive neurosciences, linguistics, computer sciences or a related area.
Further requirements are 
1)  a strong background in experimental psychology or experimental
psycholinguistics, 
2)  excellent statistical skills, 
3)  excellent knowledge of English. 
Knowledge of Dutch or German are an advantage. Senior researchers must have
a strong publication record and experience in supervising junior scientists. 

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the research program
of the department, which is to describe and understand the origins of
individual variation in the processing and use of spoken language. The
position is available from July 2011 for one or two years and is renewable
for up to five years. 

The institute provides state-of-the art research and training facilities
(including EEG, eye tracking, virtual reality labs), as well as a
conference and travel budget. The Max Planck Society is an equal
