This is to announce the launching of the web page of the Salamanca Corpus,
a Digital Archive of English Dialect Texts: 

http://salamancacorpus.usal.es/SC/index.html

We are in the process of uploading texts representative of English Dialect
Literature and of English Literary Dialects in Word-format so as to allow
for  tagging and empirical research, and also, when possible, in pdf format
for comparison purposes. This beta version contains, as of today, 127 texts
and it will be updated at weekly intervals. The e-repository of the
University of Salamanca at http://gredos.usal.es/jspui/handle/10366/82515
has agreed to permanently host the Corpus. The web page also contains
bibliographical information on English dialects and bio-bibliographical
information on the authors.

The linguistic history of English dialects still suffers from a
considerable lack of diachronic data representative of the period that
extends from the early modern period up to modern times (c.1500-c.1950).
Our long term project aims to remedy this scarcity of data so that
linguists may be able to sketch the regional setting from a diachronic
perspective. The compilation follows the pluralistic stance that has
recently been adopted by diachronic linguistics, seeking to provide a
democratic account of non-canonical literatures too.
