Using corpora in language teaching stems back to the very beginning
of corpus research. The General Service List published by Michael
West in 1953 is one of the early examples of the usefulness of corpus
information for learning foreign languages. In this Special Issue of
the Language Resources and Evaluation Journal we would like to
collect submissions on the general topic of creating resources,
annotation schemes and computer-assisted tools for the task of
teaching and learning languages.
The indicative range of topics for this Special Issue includes:
- resources for developing learner dictionaries;
- Call tools for language learners and teachers;
- methods for measuring difficulty of texts for language learners;
- psycholinguistic resources reporting the activity of language learners, such as eye-
tracking, ERP, etc;
- methods for compiling and annotating corpora intended for language learners;
- designing specialised corpus resources for LSP;
The authors are invited to contact the editors first to express their
interest in submission with an extended abstract (up to 500 words) by
11 June 2011, with the full submitted version by the end of September.
