While working on a book on the (history of the) interface of morpho-syntax
with phonology (published earlier this year), Tobias Scheer was trying to
get hold of a copy of the manuscript that is quoted in the literature as
the origin/ ancestor of Halle & Vergnaud (Halle, M. and J.-R. Vergnaud
(1987). An Essay on Stress. Cambridge, Mass., MIT Press.). The manuscript
is called

Halle, Morris (1986). On the Phonology-Morphology Interface. Ms, MIT.

A call on Linguist List did not produce any result, and Morris Halle said
he could not find the item in his files. But recently a copy has been
found! Edmund Gussmann, who passed away earlier this year, had it in his
files, and these are now registered at Lublin University, where Gienek
Cyran found it.

The manuscript is now available online (http://www.unice.fr/scheer/, follow
''little interface library''), where it is publicly available.
