Assistant Professor (Applied English Linguistics)

The Department is keen, as practicable, to make an appointment in the field 
of sociolinguistics, preferably in language in new media, digital discourse, and 
literacies. Applicants should have (i) a relevant PhD degree; (ii) a record of 
teaching general linguistics courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate 
levels; (iii) a record of successful supervision of postgraduate students; and 
(iv) a good track record of research grants and publications in the above 
areas. 

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years 
initially commencing August 2012, which, subject to mutual agreement, may 
lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.

Salary and Fringe Benefits:
Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and 
experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, 
including medical care, a contract-end gratuity for an appointment of two 
years or longer, and housing benefits for eligible appointees.
