Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee invites 
applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in phonology at the rank of 
assistant professor. Duties will include developing and teaching courses in 
phonological theory, description and typology, supervising graduate students at 
both the M.A. and Ph.D. level and conducting research in the appointee's area 
of specialization. Prospective applicants must have a Ph.D. in linguistics or 
some other relevant field at the time of appointment, with a specialization in 
phonology, and must show evidence of quality teaching and excellent scholarly 
promise. The ability to teach courses in related areas, especially undergraduate 
core distribution offerings in linguistics is also required. Expertise over a range 
of disparate languages is preferred. The department particularly encourages 
applications from candidates with specific research interests in experimental or 
laboratory phonology, as well as from candidates who could supplement the 
department's existing strengths in first and second language acquisition. Salary 
will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
