Meeting Description: 

The 1st International Seminar on Language Acquisition (I Seminário
Internacional de Aquisição da Linguagem) will be held from November 16 to
18, 2011, at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, in
Porto Alegre, Brazil. 

The Seminar touches on a variety of topics in the area of acquisition,
including the acquisition of native and foreign languages, linguistic
awareness and literacy, bilingualism, language reorganization in aphasics,
LIBRAS, Portuguese as an Additional Language (PAL) and foreign language
reading.

Registrations:

All participants must register on the event website by November 8, 2011.
After this date, registrations can only be done at the Events Department on
the main campus of PUCRS, building 40, room 201. Open hours from Monday to Friday from 8am to 12pm and 1:30pm to 7pm. Telephone for contact 3320.3680 and email proexsecretaria at pucrs.br.

The Organizing Committee of the I International Seminar on Language Acquisition (I Seminário Internacional de Aquisição da Linguagem) is pleased to present the updated conference program below. 

There will also be a workshop on Applied English Phonology given by Prof. Mehmet Yavas (Florida International University) on Saturday, Nov. 19. The workshop requires no registration or fee. An additional minicourse on The Neurobiology of Bilingualism will also be given by Prof. Jubin Abutalebi (Vita Salute San Raffaele University) on Monday, Nov. 21, and Tuesday, Nov. 22. Registration for the minicourse is R$44.
