Call for Papers:
ICALL
Natural Language Processing Technologies within a CALL Context
This is a call for papers for a one day pre-conference workshop at the 2012 CALICO conference which will be held at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana from June 12-16, 2012.
This workshop follows three successful workshops in 2008 , 2009, and 2011. The first two workshops addressed specific issues in ICALL, such as the annotation of learner texts. For the workshop last year and this year, it was decided to open the workshop to a wider audience in order to bring together researchers and practitioners working on ICALL related projects, and researchers from other disciplines who are interested in Intelligent Computer Assisted Language Learning in the widest sense.
We are inviting proposals for 30 minute presentations on ICALL related projects. The proposals will be subject to a double-blind peer review process.
The areas addressed in presentations can include - but are not limited to - the following:
- Intelligent CALL systems
- The analysis of learner language
- The interfaces of corpus linguistics and CALL
- Learner modeling
- Automatic evaluation
- Automatic feedback generation
- Natural language generation and understanding and CALL
Please submit your abstract of no more than 300 words excluding references by January 31, 2012 by e-mail to peter.wood at usask.ca. The preferred format for abstracts is pdf. We can also accept abstracts in plain text, MS-Word, or OpenOffice format. Please make sure to list the name of presenters and their affiliations separately in your e-mail.
Deadline for submissions: January 31, 2012
Address submissions and question to: Peter Wood, University of Saskatchewan,
Saskatoon, SK, Canada (peter.wood at usask.ca)
The workshop is organized by the ICALL Special Interest Group of CALICO, currently chaired by Peter Wood and Christopher Hill.
