Description:
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese in the Division of World Languages,
Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Iowa is searching for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor in Hispanic linguistics with specialization in second
language acquisition and phonology. Candidate must have a Ph.D. in Hispanic
Linguistics or in Linguistics in hand by August 2012. The successful candidate
must show evidence of an active research program in phonological acquisition
of Spanish as a second language, and must be able to contribute to general
offerings in the area of Hispanic linguistics, as well as advanced undergraduate
and/or graduate courses in Spanish phonology and in formal linguistic or
psycholinguistic approaches to acquisition. Native or nearnative fluency in
Spanish is required. Undergraduate courses are taught in Spanish.
Candidates must send letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and two examples of
publications to the Search Committee via online application at the application
