Dr. Stephen Huffman's free downloadable PDF wall maps depicting
Ruhlen's language classification at World and continental scales have
been updated with new geography from World Language Mapping
System (WLMS) version 16.0 (corresponding to Ethnologue 16th
Edition) at
http://www.worldgeodatasets.com/language/huffman.
Downloadable maps are most suitable for printing on 36-50 inch wide
large format printers, but can also be used on-screen using zoom
capabilities in Adobe Reader and other PDF readers. The maps make
excellent reference maps for hallways, classrooms, and offices, and
are a good addition to map library collections.
Also included on the site are Dr. Huffman's original paper describing
the process of adapting Ruhlen's classification to the Ethnlogue data,
along with a downloadable zip archive containing a .dbf cross
reference table assigning Ruhlen classifications to ISO 639-3 language
codes. The zip archive also contains map project files needed to
recreate or modify the maps using WLMS 16.0.
