Meeting Description:
The conference will address values, concepts and issues related to learners of English as an additional language (EAL) who have additional needs. The programme includes a keynote address by Professor Brahm Norwich from the University of Exeter on inclusive education, additional needs and EAL, and workshops dealing with such issues as EAL learners and dyslexia (Professor Tony Cline, UCL), deaf children who are learning EAL (Dr Merle Mahon, UCL), improving outcomes for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller pupils (Brian Foster, NFER research group), EAL learners with speech, language and communication needs (Dr Carol Stowe and Dr Sean Pert, Pennine Care), Cultural and Linguistic Diversity and Language Disabilities (Dr Deirdre Martin, University of Birmingham), etc. There will be opportunities for networking with other professionals in the field and for purchasing a range of relevant up-to-date publications.
