The University of Konstanz is one of the nine Universities of Excellence
in the Federal Republic of Germany. The Department of Linguistics
invites applications for a
Post Doc Position in Semantics
The research position is available within the project 'Decomposition of
comparative and superlative quantificational noun phrases at the
syntax/semantics interface' funded by the German Research
Foundation (DFG). The aim of the project is to develop a fully
compositional analysis of noun phrases involving comparative or
superlative morphology. It applies methods from formal semantics,
syntax and pragmatics, as well as empirical methods in corpus
linguistics and questionnaire studies. The research project is based at
the Department of Linguistics and the Zukunftskolleg of the University
of Konstanz.
The appointment is at 100% of the German Salary Scale 13 TV-L. The
position is a maternity leave replacement and expected to be available
from April 20, 2012 until March 31, 2014.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Linguistics
and have a strong background in formal semantics, and ideally in
syntax and/or pragmatics. A research specialization in one of the areas
related to the project (semantics of degree constructions) is desired.
Job responsibilities will primarily consist in contributing to the
development of the project via original research and in carrying out
supporting tasks related to the project.
