An International Conference to Commemorate Maksim Shapir's 50th Anniversary

Call for Papers:

The Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute for World Culture of Moscow State University and the journal Philologica are announcing a call for papers for an international conference on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Maksim Il'ich Shapir (1962-2006). 

The conference topics correspond to his research interests: 

- Linguistics of verse and verse structure
- History and theory of poetic and literary language
- Linguistic poetics
- Exact methods in philology
- Editorial theory and practice
- History of Russian philology

Those wishing to attend the conference and present papers are requested to apply by June 1, providing the following information:

- The title of their paper and an abstract (the abstract should not exceed 2000 characters, spaces included)
- A brief CV (name, surname, affiliation, degree, scholarly interests - up to 1000 characters, spaces included)

The applications should be sent to shapir.conference at gmail.com.

The participant abstracts will be selected by the organizing committee based on their merit and suitability for the conference. The applicants will be informed about the results by 15 June 2012. All conference events are free of charge, and there is no conference fee. Participants are expected to travel on their own expense and responsibility and to book their own accommodation.
