Meeting Description:
The Pragmatics Festival will feature individual presentations and special topics in second language acquisition, cross-cultural pragmatics, instruction of pragmatics, and the effects of study abroad on pragmatic development. The conference will feature two plenary speakers:
Dr. Diana Boxer (University of Florida)
Dr. César Félix-Brasdefer (Indiana University)
In addition, the Pragmatics Festival will host colloquia on various topics in pragmatics and discourse analysis. We have received confirmation of the following colloquia organizers and topics:
Dr. Noel Houck (California State Polytechnic Pomona): 'Teaching Pragmatics in Second Languages'
Dr. Ulla Connor (IUPUI): 'Medical Discourse'
Dr. Alwiya Omar (Indiana University): 'Teaching Pragmatics for Less Commonly Taught Languages'
Dr. Maria Shardakova (Indiana University): 'Effects of Study Abroad on Pragmatic Development'
