Research Assistant

Overview: 
Academic staff in the School of Languages and Linguistics have 
been awarded a three-year Australian Research Council (ARC) 
Discovery Project Grant, 'Australians and Americans Talking: Culture, 
Interaction and Communication Style'.  The focus of the project is on 
analysing real-life interactions between Australians and Americans, 
as well as large-scale corpus data.

This is a fixed term (3 years), part time (60%) position based at the 
Nathan campus, Queensland, Australia.

The role: 
This position will provide research support to a professional team of 
academic staff undertaking a three-year ARC Discovery Project, 
including conducting data collection, assisting with corpus analysis, 
providing editorial assistance, conducting literature searches, and 
assisting with project organisation.

The person: 
The successful candidate will have a background in linguistics or a 
related discipline, experience in linguistic data collection, good 
communication and organisational skills, and the capacity to learn 
new information technology skills.

Salary range: 
Research Assistant Grade 2: AUD $58,738 - $61,914 (pro rata) per 
annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation 
contribution:  $68,724 - $72,440 (pro rata) per annum.

Research Assistant Grade 1: AUD $52,387 - $55,565 (pro rata) per 
annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation 
contribution:  $61,294 - $65,012 (pro rata) per annum.
