Description:
The Heidelberg Graduate School for the Humanities and Social Sciences (HGGS)
seeks a
Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin/Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter as coordinator.
(E13 TV-L)
The position starts on the earliest possible date and is initially limited to
31.10.2017.
The incumbent coordinates the graduate school in cooperation with the
directors of the HGGS, the graduate academy and the respective faculties and
institutions involved.
Job summary:
- Coordinating functions such as advancing, managing and internationalising
the graduate school
- Coordinating the interdisciplinary teaching programme
- Writing research proposals for external funding
- Organising international events in the HGGS
- Administrative supervision of HGGS graduates
- Managing HGGS public relations and international networking
Qualifications:
The coordinator should have a PhD in either a discipline of the social
sciences or the humanities, ideally with experience from having studied or
carried out research at a foreign university. The candidate should be familiar
with writing research proposals in both English and German and should have
already successfully applied for external funding. The coordinator should have
a record of administrative experience both within and outside the university
and proven success in international networking as well as organising
structured graduate programs and international conferences. She/he should be
flexible, visionary, pro-active and open-minded and able to think beyond
disciplinary boundaries. The requirements also include organisational talent,
team spirit and excellent oral and written communicative and interpersonal
skills. Excellent knowledge of English and German and computer literary are
also necessary.

should contain the following:
- Cover letter illustrating qualifications and motivation for the application
(max. 2 pages)
- CV
- Educational certificates
- The applicant’s idea of the role of a coordinator (max. 3 pages)
- Up to 2 letters of recommendation
The short-listed candidates will be called for an interview at the
Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg or via Skype.
The University of Heidelberg particularly welcomes applications from female
