Meeting Description:

The Students’ Conference of Linguistics in India (SCONLI) is a two day international conference organized annually by research students of linguistics in India. It started in 2006 with its first meet at EFLU (formerly CIEFL), Hyderabad. The second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth meet of this conference was held in Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, University of Mumbai, University of Hyderabad, and Banaras Hindu University respectively in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 respectively. The seventh meet of this conference is to be held at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. The theme of the conference is ‘Interdisciplinary Approach to Linguistic Research’. The aim of this conference has been to organize a meet for the research students of different areas in linguistics. This conference provides a platform for the students/research scholars to present and discuss their research work amidst a national and international audience. 

The 7th SCONLI is being organized by the Department of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh in collaboration with Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore. This is a two day conference followed by a one day workshop on different themes.

Registration Fees:

Students getting scholarship: Rs. 500/-
Students not getting scholarship: Rs. 300/-
Foreign Nationals: $ 25/-

The registration procedure may be completed on arriving at the Conference venue. (The registration fee is likely to be lessened as per the availability of the fund.)

Accommodation and Travel:

Accommodation will be provided to all outstation participants. The travel support to out-station participants will be provided (as admissible by CIIL, Mysore).

The conference invites paper submission in the following areas but not limited to these:

- ELT
- General Linguistics
- Grammatical Tradition
- Historical Linguistics
- Morphology
- Phonology
- Psycho- and Neurolinguistics
- Semantics and Pragmatics
- Semiotics
- Sociolinguistics
- Syntax
- Translation Studies
- Typology

Proposal for Workshop and Special Lecture:

Proposals are also invited for workshops and special lectures in the areas mentioned above. Proposals relevant to the theme of the conference will be preferred. (Only for senior research scholars)

Guidelines for Full Paper Submissions:

Papers written in English should be submitted by email to sconli07 at gmail.com in both pdf and doc/docx formats latest by 20 December 2012.

The paper submitted for review should contain original, unpublished research. It should specify a genuine hypothesis, methodology, sufficient data with proper analysis and results. References should follow the standard norms. APA will be preferred. Authors may submit no more than one individual and one joint (co-authored) paper. The paper should be in 12pt single spaced Times New Roman font. Full length of paper should not be less than 4 pages (A4 size). Please attach an abstract, minimum of 1 page, with paper, to be published in the souvenir. The paper should be anonymous.

Important Dates:

Last date for submitting the full paper has been extended to 20 December 2012. 
The notification of acceptance will be communicated by 15 January 2013.
