Call Deadline: 31-Mar-2013

Meeting Description:

The 3rd edition of the Colloque Bisannuel sur la Diachronie de l’Anglais (CBDA-3) will take place in Amiens, France, at the Université de Picardie Jules Verne, Pôle Cathédrale, Placette Lafleur, 80000 Amiens, from Thursday 6 to Saturday 8 June 2013. The aim of the conference is to provide linguists working on the history of English, both in France and elsewhere, with an opportunity to present their work and to discuss recent developments within the field of English historical linguistics.

Parallel to the conference itself, a series of workshops will also be organized, on a variety of topics, including the study of specific texts or genres, or manuscripts.

The registration fee for the conference will be 30 Euros (students: 15 Euros). Information concerning hotels and transport to and from the city of Amiens can be found on the conference website:

http://www.cbdaconference.org/

2nd Call for Papers:

There is no fixed theme. Contributions are welcome on all topics related to the history of English, on all periods, as well as on theoretical issues in historical linguistics illustrated by developments which have taken place in English.

The bulk of the conference will be given over to session papers. 30 minutes will be allotted to each paper (20 minutes presentation, and 10 minutes for questions at the end). If you would like to send a paper, please send an abstract (approximately 300 words) to either Brian Lowrey (brian.lowrey at u-picardie.fr) or to Fabienne Toupin (fabienne.toupin at univ-tours.fr). In order to guarantee anonymity, we would ask you to quote your name, your affiliation, and the title of your paper in the email, but to mention only the title in the abstract itself. Submissions can also be made by post to:

Brian Lowrey, UFR Langues, Université de Picardie Jules Verne, Campus Universitaire, Chemin du Thil, 80025 Amiens cedex 1, France.

Submissions should reach the organisers by 31 March 2013 at the very latest. Notification of acceptance will be sent out by 15 April.

In addition, on Saturday morning, a series of workshops will be organised around the themes of paleontology, dialectology, and the study of specific texts. If you would like to organise a workshop session, please contact the organisers as soon as possible.

Catherine Delesse (catherine.delesse at univ-nancy2.fr)
