Description:

Grants for PhD Students at the Open University of Catalonia. Machine
Translation and Natural Language Processing.

The IN3 (Internet Interdisciplinary Institute of the Open University of
Catalonia) offers grants for following the Information and Knowledge Society
Doctoral Programme. The IN3-UOC Doctoral Theses Grants Programme require
full-time dedicationfrom the student and being physically present in the
research institute’s facilities in Barcelona (Spain).

The maximum duration of the grants is four years. Grants require annual
renewal. Renewal is contingent on the students benefitting from such grants
achieving the training and research objectives established in each case. One
of these objectives is to complete the organised research period within a
maximum of three years. Another is to carry out research papers derived from
the doctoral thesis.

The successful candidate will join the Language Processing Research Group
(http://lpg.uoc.edu/) and the doctoral area called Digital Culture Studies >
Applied Linguistics in the Information Society
(http://in3.uoc.edu/opencms_portalin3/opencms/en/doctorat/convocatoria_acces/o

Linguistics, Translation, Linguistics or related fields. The selection of
admitted students to the Doctoral Programme’s research period is based solely
on scientific and academic qualification. Apart from the admission
requirements which the students must necessarily fulfil, the University takes
into account firstly, the candidates’ academic record and secondly, how far
their training, experience and research interests adapt to the areas of
knowledge or themes associated to the Doctoral Programme. The prior scientific
production of the future students is also taken into account.
