The Asian Languages and Cultures Department at the University of California, Los Angeles announces its 19th Workshop on East Asian Languages (WEAL). WEAL 2013 will take place on Saturday, March 30 at Royce Hall, UCLA.

Founded in 1990, WEAL has been a data-based workshop for presenting and discussing issues on East Asian languages, including Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. 

Registration for presenters is free. There is no fee for attendees who do not submit abstracts. Please register by sending your name and affiliation to the following email address.

Call for Papers:

Anonymous abstracts are invited for talks on a wide variety of topics within Functional Linguistics, including but not limited to phonology, phonetics, grammar, discourse analysis, conversation analysis, historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, computational linguistics, psycholinguistics, and language acquisition.

Submission Guidelines:

Each talk will be 15 minutes, followed by 5 minutes for discussion. Abstracts should be submitted via email to 2013weal at gmail.com.

- Abstracts should take the form of a word and a pdf as attachments in the email.
- Abstracts should be written in English.
- Abstracts should be within one page, including examples and/or references.
- Abstracts should be anonymous.

In a separate word file, please provide the following author information: (1) Name(s); (2) Affiliation; (3) Mailing address; (4) Email address; (5) Title of paper. 

Deadline for abstract submission: January 30, 2013
Notification of acceptance will be by email by: February 15, 2013
