Abstract:

Die Grammatik des Deutschen verändert sich ständig. Grammatische 
Strukturen kommen und gehen. Dieses Studienbuch macht zum einen mit der 
aktuellen Grammatikalisierungsforschung und ihren Theorien vertraut. Zum 
anderen hat es die Entstehung und weitere Entwicklung der wichtigsten 
grammatischen Kategorien des Deutschen zum Gegenstand, u.a. den 
Negationswandel, die Herausbildung des Artikels und die Entwicklung neuer 
Hilfsverben wie haben, werden und
bekommen. Auch die Entstehung der Konjunktionen dass und weil sowie der 
Präpositionen wegen, im Vorfeld und im Laufe wird auf verständliche Weise 
dargestellt.

Die zweite Auflage ist um ein Kapitel zur Entwicklung des sog. am-
Progressivs (ich bin am Lesen, am Kochen, am Überlegen) erweitert. An 
solchen und weiteren Beispielen werden verschiedene Aspekte und Modelle 
der Grammatikalisierung diskutiert, darunter die kognitiven Grundlagen des 
Bedeutungswandels sowie das Phänomen der Reanalyse.
