Description:

ATG is an eCommerce company recently acquired by Oracle. ATG 
developed language technology to support search in various applications. 
Oracle is investing in a 'Lexer' project to separate the language technology 
for all of Oracle software to use, including other search products. The ATG
Lexer software currently supports 20 languages, and will support at least
32 by 2013. The group has engineers to develop the software and 
computational linguists to develop the language dictionaries and other data
needed to perform language analysis.

Brief Posting Description:
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for 
databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

Detailed Description:
As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to 
intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software 
development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing 
software applications or operating systems according to provided design 
specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture 
and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.

Job Requirements:
Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding 
of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem 
solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying 
company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience 
relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related 
experienced.We are seeking Computational Linguists for research and 
development related to a multi-language natural language processing 
system. 
  
Candidates should be native or near-native speakers of at least one of the 
following languages: 
-  Persian
-  Slavic language (other than Russian)
-  Finnish
-  Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian
Proficiency in at least one additional language is a strong plus. 
  
Preferred Skills: 
-  2+ yrs of professional experience as a computational linguist 
-  Academic degree or professional experience in computational linguistics 
-  2+ yrs of C/C++ programming skills 
-  Experience with creating morphological rules for languages both familiar 
and unfamiliar 
-  Proficiency with regular expressions and basic Unix/Linux shell 
commands 
-  Excellent written and oral communication skills in English 
-  Strong analytical skills 
-  Ability to work independently 
-  Proficiency in a scripting language (Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.) is a plus

The candidates will be responsible for: 
-  Creating, developing, and maintaining lexicons and morphological rules in 
a variety of languages 
-  Quality assessment of existing language work 
-  Ongoing testing and evaluation of language-related aspects of search 
product 
-  Researching and evaluating alternative tokenization and morphological 
analysis techniques 
-  Collecting, evaluating, and maintaining training corpora
