Meeting Description:
The Society for Text & Discourse is an international society of researchers who investigate all aspects of discourse processing and text analysis. The purpose of the Society is to consolidate research in discourse processing and to enhance communication among researchers in different disciplines. A second objective of the society is to contribute to the education and professional development of those in the field or entering the field. In 2012, the Society will meet July 10-12 in Montréal. Montréal is a unique, vibrant urban centre, with a rich cultural heritage and a wide range of entertainment possibilities. More information on Montréal can be found on our links page. The conference will be held in Le Westin, a new luxury hotel in a redeveloped historical building in Old Montréal.
Call for Papers:
The conference organizing committee invites researchers and students from psychology, linguistics, neuroscience, education, literary studies, and other disciplines concerned with text and discourse to participate in the 2012 annual meeting of the Society for Text & Discourse. Proposals are solicited for papers and posters presenting original research on text and discourse processing, representation, and analysis. Possible topics include but are not limited to:
The comprehension of multiple documents
New methods for discourse content analysis
Dialogue with humans and artificial systems
New research into the processing of anaphora
Search and navigation in online information systems
Writing from sources
Memory and learning from text
The role of perspective in comprehension
