Description:
The School of International Letters & Cultures at Arizona State University
invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor in German. The
appointment starts August 16, 2012.
Responsibilities will include:
- Teaching German language and linguistics courses within SILC
- Conducting and publishing scholarly research in the field of German
Applied Linguistics/Second Language Acquisition
- Supervising/training graduate student teaching assistants
- Assisting with the coordination of the first- and second-year German
language curriculum
Candidates must possess:
- A Ph.D at the time of application
- Near-native or native proficiency in German
- Demonstrated knowledge in the field of applied linguistics and expertise
in Second Language Acquisition with a special focus on German
- Experience teaching German at the university level
- Ability to integrate new media and technologies across the German
language curriculum
- Knowledge of techniques and methodologies within second language
acquisition
Desired: Experience in training and supervision of graduate teaching
assistants, as well as experience developing and teaching online courses.
