New Graduate Certificate in Computational Linguistics
at Montclair State University
The Graduate Certificate in Computational Linguistics provides
students with a basic education in the interdisciplinary field of
computational linguistics. The new program enables students to
understand core algorithms and data structures in CL, and both
symbolic and statistical methods in CL and their appropriate use in
applications.
This one year program is designed for graduates in related disciplines,
for example, Computer Science, Linguistics, or Electrical Engineering,
who wish to gain sufficient expertise in this inherently cross-disciplinary
area to effectively participate in language technology projects in
industry and academia. Students will take graduate level courses in
Computer Science and Linguistics.
Further details on the program can be found by sending email to
Eileen Fitzpatrick fitzpatricke at mail.montclair.edu or
Anna Feldman feldmana at mail.montclair.edu
Applications are invited for Fall 2012.
How to apply:
Students interested in applying for admission to the Certificate
Program in Computational Linguistics should consult Montclair's Office
of Graduate Admissions at

About Montclair State University:
Founded in 1908, Montclair State is ranked as one of the top public
universities in the region. Its 252 acre suburban campus on a ridge
overlooking New York City has on campus access to New York by both
train and bus.
Both the Linguistics and Computer Science departments have a strong
record of achievement in teaching and research. Their graduate
programs enable students to concentrate in language acquisition,
language in society, computational linguistics, artificial intelligence,
human-computer interaction, machine learning, data mining, and
bioinformatics, with cross-pollination among these programs. The
departments bring in significant external funding in research grants
and contracts and have a strong faculty tradition of research and
publication.
