Description:
The University of University of Nova Gorica (CSIT and the linguistic section
of ICS) is looking for an 'experienced researcher' (post-doc or open-rank
professor) in the field of data (text) mining and natural language processing.
The position is open within the SUNGREEN project cofinanced under
Framework Programme 7 (Call: FP7-REGPOT-2011-1) with duration until
30.9.2014.
Conversion to a tenure-track position is possible.
Application Deadline: January 30, 2012/ open until filled.
Fields of work and research:
- Development of algorithms and software for text mining systems and
carrying out experiments in text mining applications using large data sets
- Development of information extraction, text classification and text mining
algorithms for energy and environmental research areas, performing data
extraction, manipulation, cleaning, text mining and link analysis
- Analysis and interpretation of today's plethora of data sources and thus
support energy and environmental scientists in the process of knowledge
discovery
- The recruited researcher will also work with younger researchers and
students to develop a team that can continue with these activities after the
termination of this project
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Computer or Information Science or equivalent degree
- At least two years of postdoctoral experience from the fields related to the
job description
- Excellent knowledge of natural language processing and text mining
- A distinguished publication record
- Very good oral and written communication skills in English are essential
- Experience with text mining in applications related to energy and
environmental research is an advantage
