The Research Unit of Cognitive and Functional Linguistics at the Department

The PhD project is part of a larger collaborative project (GOA/12/007) 'The

supervisor of this work package is Bert Cornillie, its co-supervisor is Freek
Van de Velde.
This PhD project is entitled 'Discourse status and the development of clitic

(indirect) object doubling in Spanish (e.g. Se (COI) lo (COD) dije a mi vecino
(COI) 'I told it to my neighbour'). A summary of the research project can be
requested by e-mail.

publish in English in peer-reviewed journals.
Motivated candidates meeting these criteria are invited to apply online

Please include a cover letter, a CV, the names of up to three referees we

for applications is July 15th 2012.
Interviews will be held with shortlisted candidates in the second half of
August (in person or online for overseas applicants). A decision will be made
by the end of August.
The fellow will receive a salary of approximately 1700 EUR/month (after
taxes) for a period of four years and all regular provisions for PhD fellows at
the University of Leuven. In addition, s/he will be allocated office space and a
laptop, and receive funding for research activities like attending conferences
abroad and organizing workshops and conferences in Leuven or elsewhere.
The successful candidate may be asked to provide (limited) assistance with
teaching, student supervision and data management. S/he will join a dynamic
research team (including six faculty members, several postdoctoral fellows
and many PhD students).
