Meeting Description:
The 2nd International Conference on Classroom-Oriented Research will be held at the University of Łódź, Poland, on September 23-24, 2012. The conference is dedicated to academics and university lecturers, representatives of central and local educational authorities, non-governmental organizations and school teachers. The event is a great occasion for meeting experts in language acquisition working in a varied set of areas such as grammar, lexicon, discourse, pragmatics, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, sociolinguistics, language didactics and pedagogy. The language of the conference is predominantly English, but shall also consider contributions in Polish.
Traditionally, this conference focuses on various aspects of classroom-oriented research. The aim is to provide a forum in which to explore current trends in ELT and to discuss a number of subsidiary issues.

All the participants are requested to return the registration form by July 31, 2012. The fee, which covers organization costs, conference materials, lunches and refreshments and the cost of subsequent publication is:

Call for Papers:
The Organisers look forward to papers in the following areas of English studies:
Key trends in ELT today; creativity in the classroom; theoretical foundations of classroom-oriented research; learner-centred teaching; teaching language skills and subsystems; mixed ability and differentiated teaching; teaching languages for specific purposes; learner autonomy; teaching interpreting and translation; assessing second language knowledge; teaching via the new media; coursebooks and materials; innovative language teaching methodology; syllabus design; individual differences and language learning and teaching; the ELT professional; developing intercultural competence in the language classroom; enhancing teacher education; language awareness raising; reflective practice
Proposals for original and previously unpublished papers (20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for questions) or workshops (45 minutes) reporting on research related to the theme of the conference, or presenting more theoretical considerations regarding the issue, are welcome for presentation at the conference.
Abstract Submission:
Abstracts of papers or workshops in the range of 250-300 words should be submitted by email to psycho at uni.lodz.pl or weronikaszubko at uni.lodz.pl by July 31, 2012. The proposals should include the title, name, affiliation, email address and a short biographical note, about 80-100 words in length. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by August 10, 2012. Conference proceedings will be published.
