Description:
General Dynamics IT is seeking an inventive, creative, and enthusiastic
computational linguist to serve as the new member of a team engaged
developing in text exploitation and natural language processing
technologies for a variety of customers. The selected candidate will
perform specialized and technical tasks associated with the most current
natural language processing (NLP) technologies being applied to free text
extraction. Experience in object oriented programming, especially Java,
and familiarity with the UIMA framework a plus. Work will be performed at
the General Dynamics IT Buffalo, NY office. Candidates must be U.S.
citizens and eligible for DOJ/DOD security clearance.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs basic CL work requiring application of standard techniques,
procedures and criteria
- Analyzes problems and applies theoretical techniques to develop
solutions
- Performs laboratory research
- Analyzes and organizes technical data and reports into summaries for
management or customer review
- Prepares technical reports, manuals, and procedures
- Defines and describes laboratory tests to be performed
- Participates in test programs and prepares reports of test results
- Maintains records, prepares reports, and conducts analysis and
investigation
- Maintains current knowledge or relevant technologies as assigned
- Participates in special projects as required
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in computational linguistics (preferred) or
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in computer science with a concentration in
computational linguistics (minimum)
- 0-2 years of related experience in computational linguistics, analysis
and/or engineering
Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in
computational linguistics
- Basic knowledge of the related equipment and systems used in
computational linguistics
