Description:
Appen Butler Hill is currently looking for a Croatian Linguist/Phonetician
for an immediate opening. Ideal candidates should have a great attention
to detail, possibly experienced as a teacher, and be highly motivated in a
fast pace environment.
Time requirements are as follows:
- Commitment of 15 hours/week required through May 15
- 10 hours through June 30
- 5 hours after July 1st
(Preference is some availability every day in order to check email and
respond to client requests twice a day)
Position Requirements:
- Croatian linguist with experience in phonetic transcription
- Native Croatian language skills
- Linguistic degree (BA) with expertise in Phonetics
Preferred Skills (Degrees, Skills and Abilities):
- Experience with phonetic description desired
Tasks:
- Review and correct the input/output of the tokenizer
- Review and correct the input/output of the formatter
- Review and correct word prons
- Review and lexicalize out of vocabulary words Review, correct and add
spoken forms to word names
- Serve as language expert for research
- Review and clean up lexicon-origin attributes
- Phonetic transcription
Additional Information:
Projects require excellent English reading, writing and communication
skills. Strong computer skills in a Windows environment and greater than
average comfort with software and technology are expected. US residents
must have US work authorization (US citizen or permanent resident).
Unfortunately, Appen Butler Hill cannot sponsor employment visas at this
time. You will be required to sign a legally binding non-disclosure
agreement at the time of contract negotiation.
This is a contract position.
Compensation:
We offer a competitive, hourly pay rate DOE (to be paid as 1099 self-
employment income).
