Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,
About five years ago, I left the green pastures of Bavaria for the even greener pastures
of Wisconsin to pursue a doctorate in English Linguistics. About a year into the program,
I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to start working as the assistant to
the LINGUIST List Review Editors Team, which is actually based here in Madison, WI.
As part of my project assistantship, I help the very busy review editors with everything
reviews-related. Among other things, we make sure reviewers' addresses are up-to-date
in our records before we email publishers each month asking them to send review copies
to LINGUIST List reviewers. I also help processing and formatting incoming reviews
and I try to make sure that our day-to-day reviews operation runs as smoothly as possible.
If you appreciate our quality reviews and quick turnaround time please donate today:

Because of all of your donations, LINGUIST List is able to provide funding not only for
graduate students at EMU, but also for me here in Madison, WI. Because of this funding,
I get to interact with the larger community of linguists and publishers around the world
on a daily basis. This position is really more than just a job. Of course, it allows me
to work toward my degree, but I see it more as an added bonus. An awesome side-effect
especially for me is that I'm up-to-date about all current books being published in
all kinds of Linguistic fields and areas. Of course, there is never enough time to
read all these books, which is why the reviews we post are so important not just to
me, but the linguistic community world-wide.
During a workshop at EMU, I got to know the rest of the LINGUIST List crew, and
I'm proud to be part of such a lively, energetic, visionary and outstanding
team of (aspiring) linguists. I would like to thank all of you who have
contributed to LINGUIST in the past and who are contributing now, because you
help us in keeping LINGUIST going and making LINGUIST even better.
A special thank you to all of you because you also contribute to the education
of graduate students like me, ensuring that we can continue learning on our
path to become full-fledged linguists.
Thank you for your support! Your donation is what enables LINGUIST to continue working on its mission.
If you have not donated yet, please contribute to keep LINGUIST alive and well at:

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax
return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site,
or contact your financial advisor.
Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a
simple administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to
LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.
Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
