Description:

Reed College seeks applications for a one-year visiting position in
Linguistics at the Assistant Professor level for the 2012-13 academic year,
to commence August 2012.

We seek outstanding candidates from all areas of linguistics. However, we
especially invite applications from candidates with a specialization in two
or more of the following areas: morphology, phonology, phonetics,
semantics. Experience in experimental or field methods, or research on an
under-studied language or language family, are a plus. Experience teaching
and advising student research projects on a wide range of topics, including
sociolinguistics, is also highly desirable. PhD or ABD in Linguistics
required for appointment.

Reed College is a selective liberal arts institution with a commitment to
teaching excellence and scholarship. The appointee will join a small but
comprehensive undergraduate linguistics department and offer five semester
courses over the academic year. The position also involves supervising
year-long senior thesis projects. We are particularly interested in
candidates with a strong interest and experience in working with a diverse
population of students.
