Meeting Description:
The symposium of Methods for Parsing Sound Size Effects will take place on June 2 and 3, 2012, at the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. This is a satellite 'pre-event' to the 2012 International Child Phonology Conference (ICPC).
This symposium aims to advance corpus and experimental methods for phonological research. We especially focus on how size variations in mental lexicon and/or human physiology affect phonologies of individuals.
Please RSVP to the event at [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFN3NlRsdVNIcVVPbFJSWWxITXVyS3c6MQ]
Each of the three sessions comprises a 'tutorial' and a 'reviewer panel', as scheduled below:
Tutorial 1
On building corpora, number crunching for analyzing vocabulary size effects, and extracting well-balanced stimuli for experiments on talker size effects.
Tutorial 2
On designing visual analogue scale (VAS) rating tasks and analyzing results to explore inter- and intra-individual differences.
Tutorial 3
On eye-tracking measures of individual differences in response to stimuli that vary in lexical/physiological size effect.
Detailed schedule can be found at:
