Description:
The Department of Linguistics and the newly-established Second Language
Teaching and Research Center (L2TReC) at the University of Utah invite
applications for a one-year post doctoral fellow in the field of Second
Language Acquisition. Specific research area is open, but the candidate must
have demonstrated expertise in experimental/quantitative methods in the
study of SLA. Duties will include regular interaction with faculty and students
in the Speech Acquisition Lab, the Department of Linguistics and L2TReC:
the post doctoral fellow will collaborate on research with local scholars,
participate in activities of the affiliated units, mentor graduate and
undergraduate students, and teach a seminar in his/her area of expertise.
The Department of Linguistics offers the BA, MA, and PhD degrees and
houses the Speech Acquisition Lab. L2TReC brings together scholars from
across campus working in the areas of SLA, L2 methodology, and K-12 dual
immersion education in the state public school system. L2TReC also houses
instruction for 20+ languages, providing training and supervision for
instructors and a hub for curriculum development and assessment.
