Description:
North Side Inc. is developing Bot Colony (www.botcolony.com), an online
adventure game that supports intelligent dialogue between the player and the
characters.
We're looking for a linguist to join us and help develop linguistic resources
used in our dialog pipeline. These are critical in our language pipeline, in
areas like disambiguation, co-reference resolution, paraphrasing, etc.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience in lexicography, WSD (word sense disambiguation), familiarity
with dictionary structure, exposure to taggers, parsers
- Excellent knowledge of English
- Strong knowledge of English grammar (syntax and semantics)
- Ability to interpret parse trees and diagnose correctness
Desirable:
- Exposure to video games
- Experience in teaching English as a second language desirable
Projects:
- Curating synonymy resources
- Helping evaluate precision and recall of our software disambiguation
module
- Auditing game log file to assess and remedy situations of the IA (intelligent
agent) not understanding
- Game testing with a view to ensure robust language support
- Back story development for the game
- Development of domain vocabularies
Company Description:
At North Side Inc., we develop server-based software capable to support real-
time intelligent dialogue between a person and a computer in unrestricted
English. The company has developed technology that integrates 3D graphics
with our language technology though client-server communications.
The first application of our technology will be the Bot Colony online adventure
video game.
