Description:
The Program in Linguistics at the University of Georgia has been
authorized to make a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant
Professor level in phonetics and phonology beginning August 1,
2013. The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Linguistics at
the time of appointment and will be expected to maintain a robust
research program and to teach courses in phonetics and phonology
at all levels. A secondary expertise in another area of linguistics,
such as syntax, first or second language acquisition, sociolinguistics,
language variation, computational linguistics, or historical linguistics
will make the candidate more attractive. Applications should include
a cover letter, cv, writing sample, and three letters of
recommendation. Please submit all materials to the application

below. Review of applications will begin on December 15, 2012 and
continue until the position is filled.
With over 100 undergraduate majors and more than 40 graduate
students, the Linguistics Program at the University of Georgia offers
degrees at all levels (B.A., M.A., Ph.D.). The successful candidate will
be expected to serve as major professor for students at the graduate
level and to contribute to the day to day workings of a very healthy
unit with a good esprit de corps.
