Description:
The Department of Linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania invites
applications for a tenure-track position in Phonetics at the rank of Assistant
Professor. The position will begin on July 1, 2013 at the earliest. The
successful candidate is expected to have the Ph.D. by the start of the
appointment.
Applicants should present a proven record of research and evidence of
excellence in teaching. Duties will include directing the phonetics
laboratory. The department particularly encourages applications from scholars
who can contribute to Penn's tradition of cooperation across subdisciplines
within linguistics and can participate actively in interdisciplinary research
in cognitive science. Special areas of interest include sociophonetics, the
formal interface of phonetics with other subfields, and the application of
computational techniques to large corpora of phonetic data.
