Research Associate Professor / Research Assistant Professor

The Department is a young and vibrant unit established in 2004, with 
specializations in comparative linguistics, language acquisition, 
bilingualism, sign linguistics, and cognitive neuroscience. 

It now invites applications for a Research Associate Professorship / 
Research Assistant Professorship in sociolinguistics, language 
variation and change. Additional expertise in bilingualism and/or 
language acquisition will be an advantage.

Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in a related discipline; (ii) 
strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching; and (iii) 
high-quality research publications and clear research directions. 

The appointees will (a) conduct research in Hong Kong and/or the 
Chinese mainland; (b) apply for external competitive grants; (c) 
coordinate interdisciplinary research projects; (d) publish high impact 
journal papers; (e) liaise with collaborators in the regional and 
international academic community; and (f) undertake teaching and 
related administrative duties.  

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to three 
years commencing August 2013, renewable subject to performance, 
funding and mutual agreement.

Salary and Fringe Benefits:
Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications 
and experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit 
package, including medical care, a contract-end gratuity for an 
appointment of two years or longer, and housing benefits for eligible
