Description:
The Department of Linguistics at The University of Texas at Austin seeks
applications for a tenure-track position as an assistant professor, with a
specialization in historical linguistics.
Duties include:
-Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including our core
undergraduate and graduate courses in historical linguistics
-Directing thesis and dissertation research
-Conducting original research and publication
-Obtaining external funding, as needed, to support a strong research program
-Advising undergraduate and graduate students
-Performing department, college and institutional service
The successful candidate should have the Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2013,
should demonstrate excellence or potential for excellence as a teacher,
researcher, advisor, and leader, and should show a strong commitment to
working collaboratively with other faculty members, including those within
the department as well as those scholars working in historical linguistics
in allied departments.

letters of recommendation, evidence of your past teaching performance or
teaching potential, a list of courses you are prepared to teach, and
